El Tímpano takes home major award

We’re thrilled to share that El Tímpano was announced the winner of the Online News Association’s 2021 Gather Award for Engaged Journalism for our community-powered coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Online Journalism Awards are among the most distinguished prizes in journalism, judged by peers from leading news outlets around the world. The Gather Award honors journalism that centers community information needs and voices in the process. We couldn’t be more proud to receive this honor, and we congratulate the other winners and finalists in this category: The Marshall Project, ProPublica with Anchorage Daily News, The New York Times, and Arizona Star with ProPublica.
